Do you deserve it?
What did you do or say to 'deserve' x? "Why I deserve(demand) your vote..."
Sounds like a cross between begging and entitled. I prefer things I earned. "What is received with ease is esteemed lightly" attribute to a dead guy.
The reverse can also be true. "You didn't deserve to get fired for that."

It is my hope the Judges use this definition. Merit is right there. So is earned! I stand a chance in the Kevin Hogan contest. Craft 500 words that put in play all the things Kevin already taught the Judges. I like a challenge!

When I judge anything I do my best to follow the guidelines the designer, in this case Kevin, has outlined.
